Nutrition & Dining

Eat Right, Live Strong

At The White House Nursing Home we place a lot of importance on food and nourishment to promote optimum health.

We take pride in the freshness, quality and variety of our meals. As well as serving meals which are high in quality and taste, we aim to ensure that mealtimes are a pleasant and sociable experience for those who wish to dine with others and also cater for those who wish to dine in the comfort of their rooms.

Meals served at the Home are freshly prepared by our resident chef ensuring that all nutritional needs as well as food consistencies are catered for. The Home operates a four weekly menu cycle which also incorporates at least two choices of main meals including traditional as well as regional dishes to ensure that residents are not restricted in their selection and can enjoy a good variety of cuisine.

Residents are invited to choose from a daily selection of cereals, toast, cooked breakfast and fresh fruit every morning. This is followed by mid- morning tea and biscuits. At lunch time a choice of hot meal and a dessert is served followed by afternoon tea with a delicious homemade cake. In the evening along with a flavoursome homemade soup, residents can enjoy a selection of sandwiches or a hot snack. Late evening beverages and snacks are also available if desired.

Alongside promotion of good nutrition, monitoring of each resident’s weight is carried out on a regular basis. Any significant fluctuations in weight are always brought to the attention of the General Practitioner so that appropriate action may be taken.
