National Nest Box Week
An interesting article in the latest edition of Care Quality Matters informed us that it is none other than National Nest Box Week from 14th to 21st February! The article highlighted the link to adult social care and the healing qualities that interacting with birds have. This includes a way of helping to calm down and reduce stress and stimulation of the senses of sight and sound as well as the link with the outdoors. Following on from this Janice coordinated some activities during the week to bring some Feathered Cheer to our residents!
Here's an excerpt from Janice's Blog:
"...the residents have painted some lovely bright boxes which Vince will be putting up in the garden. We do of course have our very own little pet budgie Colin, but we have also brought some wild bird food, and we have been watching our two resident pigeons having a
"...I was also very lucky to have a fantastic pop up book called "Birdscape" which a dear residents' family gave to me many years ago, it plays all the sounds of birds and the pop up pages are amazing, the residents have enjoyed seeing it and it tied in very nicely with our bird project."
