Cutting-Edge Technology

At TWH, we believe in being at the forefront of any digital technology which enhances the lives and care provided to our residents. We are regularly approached by local organisations and institutions to collaborate over new initiatives. Additionally, we frequently participate in pilot projects, often being one of the first first care homes to launch new technology, helping to pave the way for digital improvements in care.

RITA

RITA is a touch-screen technology designed to enhance the care and wellbeing of residents, particularly those with memory impairments, dementia, or mental health conditions. We have found that RITA’s simple, user-friendly interface means that anyone — from care staff to visiting family members — can easily navigate and use the system for activities, making RITA's accessibility such a success.

PainChek

PainChek is an AI-powered tool that helps assess pain levels in residents, especially those unable to verbalize their discomfort. Using a smartphone camera, PainChek analyses facial muscle movements to detect signs of pain, making it particularly useful for residents with dementia, cognitive impairments, or other communication challenges. We also continue using manual assessment methods for residents who can reliably express their discomfort. This combined approach ensures personalized and effective pain management for all residents

Ally Acoustic

Ally Resident Acoustic Monitoring system, implemented with NHS South West London Integrated Care Board, enhances care by allowing staff to monitor residents without disturbing their sleep. By detecting sounds and motions, Ally alerts staff only when assistance is needed, reducing falls and helping carers manage their time more efficiently. Each room is equipped with an Ally device, which keeps staff informed in real-time through an app, enabling prompt responses and accurate assessments.

Robotic Pets

The Home also has invested in some “furry friends” in the form of robotic pets for our residents. The life-like sounds and movements bring immense  joy for our residents as well as for some a sense of comfort and familiarity from having owned their own pets.

VR Headsets

We also have VR headsets that allow the resident’s to watch videos in 350 degrees, and play games using controllers, in order to awaken their senses and see new surroundings.

Bluetooth

TWH were one of the first Homes to join South West London  new and innovative Remote Monitoring Service (RMS) pilot scheme.  RMS - commonly known as ‘Doc in a Box’ - provides various tools and devices that capture as a minimum; blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels and temperature. These devices then send results via Bluetooth to a Dashboard accessible by health and care staff. For care homes, the software systems can capture the soft signs of deterioration input by care staff.

Universal Care Plan

The Universal Care Plan is an NHS initiative that allows every Londoner to have their care and support preferences digitally accessible to healthcare professionals across the city, ensuring seamless and personalised care. Each care plan is developed through a meaningful conversation between healthcare professionals and our resident. We have been recognized by GP Fellows as an exemplary care home in effectively using the Universal Care Plan.

Digital Table

We were one of the first homes to invest in a large interactive digital table, which has transformed group activities by having instant access to a multitude of games and videos with the added advantage of being mobile to transport into resident’s rooms to allow for one-to-one engagement
