Nurse Training Programme

We are a partner with Roehampton University's Student Nursing Placement Programme, which aligns with our mission to contribute to the development and training of future nurses. Every six weeks, we have new nursing students join us to help fuel their experience during their Nursing training, and we help to train them with hands-on nursing home experiences with our own qualified nurses. Our student nurses frequently tell us how valuable their experience with us is and how inspired they are by the work of our fabulous care team.
Testimonial from Student Nurse Brigitte:
"I particularly valued the Matron’s positive and inspirational leadership, which set the tone for the whole team. Her example often spoke louder than words, creating an environment where staff were motivated to conduct themselves professionally and supportively, even in her absence. I was impressed by how many staff arrived well before their shift, demonstrated strong teamwork, and consistently treated residents with dignity and respect.
The learning opportunities were also very rewarding. I was able to practice key nursing skills and gain experience with a wide range of residents, which will be invaluable for my future career. Importantly, I felt welcomed and part of the team, which helped reduce my initial anxieties and gave me the confidence to engage fully with the placement. Overall, it was a highly enriching experience that exceeded my expectations.
There was very little to dislike about the placement. If anything, I would only suggest that future students take full advantage of the wide learning opportunities available, as the experience is so beneficial in preparing for professional practice.
White House Nursing Home provided a supportive, professional, and person-centred learning environment. The strong leadership and team spirit were clear strengths, alongside the staff’s commitment to high standards of care. I felt well supported and encouraged throughout, which made the placement both enjoyable and educational. One area for possible improvement could be the introduction of more structured student-led teaching sessions or reflection opportunities, as this would further enhance learning and give students a chance to share knowledge. Overall, I would strongly recommend this placement to other student nurses.
This placement has been very rewarding, building my confidence and skills while reinforcing the importance of person-centred care. I am grateful for the support and inspiration I received, which I will carry into my future nursing practice."

Testimonial from Student Nurse Saay:
"I just want to take a moment to thank TWH and your amazing crew for giving me a remarkable 6 weeks of my life. From the day I came in, you welcomed and accepted me in your team, which is not guaranteed for every student nurse and I am very grateful for that. At this moment, I would like to thank every facet of you, especially my nurse supervisors, Mylynn, Clint, and Rony, who have been giving me some marvellous guidance and keeping me with them as their own student, each and every HCAs who are always ready and alert like Titans in the Home, our cooking genius Joie, fantastic Thomas and Noel, smiley Emily, and active Indre and Caroline.

Above all, thanks to the torchbearer and the pillar of the home, dear Matron. Thanks for being my supporter throughout the placement and for giving me the highest learning and development opportunities. I will always appreciate and be grateful for your generous hands in my nursing journey. I have no wonder about the outstanding achievement of this care home. It begins with Matron.
I have been observing and learning from the manager, Ajitha, and she exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding leader in a nursing home. Although I have only been here for six weeks and have limited prior experience in care homes, I can confidently say that the CQC rating for the Outstanding Care Home is a direct reflection of her leadership. Despite the busy nature of each day, she consistently makes time to check in with the residents, ensuring their well-being, and doing the same for her staff. She actively listens to everyone's concerns and queries, providing prompt and thoughtful responses. Her commitment to clear communication is evident in the detailed handovers she provides to the nursing staff regarding residents' needs, conditions, and upcoming medical plans.

Moreover, she has been instrumental in my own development, encouraging me to maximise my learning opportunities during this placement. Balancing these responsibilities can be challenging, but through her example, I have learned valuable lessons about effective leadership and the essential qualities that define a successful leader.
To the White House Nursing Home, thanks for giving me the best placement experience!"
