Visit from Dr Catherine Millington

Updated: Feb 21

Last month we had a visit from Kingston CCG's End of Life & Macmillan GP, Dr Catherine Millington-Sanders. Dr Millington-Sanders is researching a project around end of life care procedures to help Kingston residents receive high-quality care at the end of life.

The project is starting in New Malden and TWHNH was proposed to her as a key Home to visit by Dr Naz Jivani who is the Chair of Kingston Clinical Commissioning Group (KCCG). Dr Jivani, also being our Home GP was well aware of all the great work Ajitha and the staff have done at The White House in standards of EOL care as well as our Gold Standard Framework accreditation in this area.

Post her visit to the Home, Dr Millington-Sanders sent a glowing email to Ajitha commenting on how impressed she was particularly with the reflection and person-centred meetings the Care team here hold in order to discuss how we can deliver the best care to our EOL residents and reflecting on what improvements can be made. In her email to Ajitha she wrote "It was lovely to meet you and to hear your commitment to giving excellent end of life care to residents"

Dr Millington-Sanders has also said she would be putting us in touch with the Cancer Research UK lead for Kingston to help improve our processes and procedures to help support prevention and early identification of cancer.
